OpenAI Reports Data Center Capacity Increased to 1.9GW and $20 Billion Revenue in 2025
OpenAI Group PBC announced its data center capacity has tripled to 1.9 gigawatts in 2025, alongside an annualized recurring revenue of over $20 billion, up from $6 billion in 2024. CFO Sarah Friar noted that growth in revenue and computing capacity is linked, with capital investments tied to demand signals.
OpenAI is also working to enhance data center efficiency, reducing inference costs to below $1 per million tokens. The company is focusing on developing custom chips and infrastructure to cut costs, highlighted by a $10 billion partnership with Broadcom for AI accelerators and a collaboration with SoftBank's SB Energy for Stargate data centers. Additionally, OpenAI plans to introduce new monetization models and advertising features, starting with paid promotions in ChatGPT responses.
