OPTCL Proposes Rs 3,679 Crore CAPEX Plan for Transmission Infrastructure in Odisha

Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) has submitted a Rs 3,678.86 crore capital expenditure (CAPEX) proposal to the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) for approval. The plan aims to enhance the power transmission network by establishing new grid substations, constructing high-capacity transmission lines, and upgrading existing infrastructure to accommodate the state's growing power demand.

It focuses on expanding the grid in industrial clusters and urban centres while improving power evacuation from new generation and renewable energy projects. Key components include new 400 kV, 220 kV, and 132 kV grid substations, augmentation of existing substations, installation of modern systems, and replacement of outdated equipment. The proposal includes a 400/220/33 kV GIS grid substation at Tata SEZ in Gopalpur, costing Rs 435.64 crore, to support the rising demand from new green hydrogen and ammonia industries.
