Orange Enhances Network Infrastructure for AI with 600 New Datacenters in EMEA by 2032

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

Orange plans to build 600 datacenters in the EMEA region by 2032, addressing challenges in sustainable electricity access and energy efficiency. The company is implementing hybrid solutions and collaborating with hardware providers like Nokia and Ciena to enhance its network for AI training and inference, which require high bandwidth of 400 to 800 Gbps.

Orange is also partnering with Orange Innovation and OINIS to improve latency and availability in AI architectures. In Africa, the focus is on local partnerships to meet the demand for affordable electricity and decentralized infrastructure.

By 2030, Orange anticipates significant growth in inference traffic, with 50% of GPU workloads already dedicated to inference. The company emphasizes the need for adaptable infrastructure to keep pace with rapid hardware advancements, prioritizing investments in hybrid solutions.
