Orbia Advance Corporation has expanded its electrolyte plant in Wisconsin by approximately 300%, completing the final phase of the expansion on December 16, 2025. The facility, which began operations in August 2024, received an $8.4 million contract from the US Department of Defense to enhance the national lithium ion battery supply chain.
The expansion introduced a second 75-litre mixer and a new 200-litre mixer, enabling the plant to produce tailored battery electrolytes for various chemistries, including lithium ion and lithium sulfur. The plant aims to reduce reliance on overseas suppliers and improve supply chain resilience.
Orbia's electrolyte production supports numerous industries, including industrial, medical, energy storage, and EVs. The company had previously acquired Silatronix, a Wisconsin-based electrolyte technology startup, and expanded its production facility to 11,000ft2 in 2023.
