Over $17.6 Million Secured for Dredging and Repairs in Northwest Ohio Harbors
Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur announced $17.6 million in federal funding for dredging and repairs at five harbors in Ohio's 9th Congressional District. This investment aims to enhance navigation safety and support local economic activities tied to boating and fishing industries.

The US Army Corps of Engineers has allocated $17,613,000 for dredging and jetty repairs at Toledo, Port Clinton, Sandusky, West Harbor, and Cooley Canal in Northwest Ohio. Key allocations include $9.2 million for Toledo Harbor dredging and $4.3 million for Port Clinton jetty repairs, vital for local ferry services and fishing operations.
Dredging at Sandusky Harbor will involve approximately 110,000 cubic yards, while West Harbor will receive funding to ensure a navigable entrance channel. Kaptur is also advocating for funding in additional regional waterways, addressing challenges like local cost-share requirements and safety improvements at the Toussaint River. The focus remains on maintaining safe navigation and supporting economic vitality in the region.
