Overstrand Municipality has established a partnership with Veolia to ensure water security for its 150,000 residents. The Preekstoel water treatment plant, operational since 2018, can treat 10 million liters of water daily.

Additionally, Veolia's wastewater treatment plant manages 12 million liters daily, with treated effluent reused for irrigation and municipal green spaces. This proactive approach to water management has prevented any crises for over 10 years, supported by continuous monitoring and strategic planning. The partnership has received the Blue Drop Award for excellence in water quality management.
