The Three Gorges Dam in China, completed in 2006, is the largest hydroelectric power station, generating 84 TWh annually. The Baihetan Dam, completed in 2022, produces over 60 TWh. The Itaipu Dam between Brazil and Paraguay has supplied significant power since 1984.
The Xiluodu Dam, operational since 2013, aids flood control and reduces pressure on downstream infrastructure. The Belo Monte Dam in Brazil provides electricity to millions while raising environmental concerns.
The Wudongde Dam, completed in 2021, delivers nearly 39 billion kWh annually. The Tucuruí Dam has been crucial for northern Brazil's power since the 1980s.
