OVHcloud has introduced Backup Agent, a managed backup solution for Bare Metal customers, developed in collaboration with Veeam. This service aims to enhance resilience for businesses that find traditional backup solutions too complex or costly.

It includes a free Veeam-based backup agent license. Use cases for Backup Agent include recovery from accidental deletions and data retrieval following ransomware or malware attacks. Upcoming features will include agent consumption via Model Context Protocol (MCP) for better access to billing and usage data for AI agents. Backup Agent is now available in all OVHcloud data centers in Europe, with plans for rollout in the Asia-Pacific region and Canada in the first quarter of this year.
