P Agro Minerals Advances Phosphorus Pollution Solutions with New Grant
P Agro Minerals secures a €10,000 grant to develop a dual-purpose technology for phosphorus removal and recovery. This initiative aims to enhance water treatment and agricultural fertilization across Europe.

Latvian firm P Agro Minerals has received a €10,000 grant from Visa's 'She's Next 2026' competition to further its innovative technology addressing phosphorus pollution in water. The company, established four years ago, utilizes letonite, a unique mineral from Latvia, to bind phosphorus, which can then be recycled as fertilizer in agriculture.
Testing of a prototype water filtration system will begin this summer at the Ādaži wastewater treatment plant, with data collection aimed at scaling the solution for wider implementation within two to three years in Latvia, Germany, and the Netherlands. The partnership with the Austrian Institute of Technology has already shown promising results in the application of recovered phosphorus for plant growth.
