Paderborn University Inaugurates New Building for Photonic Quantum Systems Research
A new research facility at Paderborn University has been inaugurated, housing the 'Photonic Quantum Systems Laboratory'. The lab facilitates collaboration among international scientists in physics, engineering, computer science, and mathematics, focusing on photon-based quantum applications, including quantum computing. The building, covering over 2,300 square meters, was completed in three years and cost approximately 83 million euros, funded by the state and the university with federal support.

Paderborn University has inaugurated a new research building for the 'Photonic Quantum Systems Laboratory'. This facility supports international scientists in experimental and theoretical physics, electrical engineering, computer science, and mathematics, researching photon-based quantum applications such as quantum computing, which may outpace current supercomputers.
The building spans over 2,300 square meters and was completed in three years, with construction starting in March 2022. The total cost was about 83 million euros, funded by the state and the university, with federal support. Research activities commenced several months before the official inauguration.
