Pakistan Allocates Rs1.424 Trillion for Diamer-Bhasha Dam Power Generation in FY2026-27
The Pakistani government plans to allocate Rs1.424 trillion for the power generation aspect of the Diamer-Bhasha Dam in the upcoming fiscal year. This investment, part of the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for FY2026-27, underscores the commitment to enhancing national hydropower capacity.

In FY2026-27, Pakistan will allocate Rs1.424 trillion for the power generation facilities of the Diamer-Bhasha Dam, with an initial Rs500 million earmarked for the upcoming PSDP. Total allocations for the water resources ministry will reach Rs179 billion, including Rs42.67 billion for hydropower and Rs136.334 billion for water projects.
Additional funding includes Rs32 billion for other components of the Diamer-Bhasha Dam and substantial amounts for ongoing projects like Dasu Hydro Power and Mohmand Dam. This comprehensive funding strategy may significantly boost hydropower generation and water resource management in the region.
