Pakistan Army Increases Salaries by 25% Amid Economic Challenges
Pakistan's military has approved a 25% salary hike for personnel, aiming to boost troop morale after recent conflicts. This increase contributes to the rising defense expenditure amidst an economic crisis characterized by high inflation and significant debt.

The Pakistan Army has approved a 25% salary hike for its personnel, including soldiers and officers, as part of a broader strategy to enhance troop morale and operational readiness. The revised pay package includes a tripling of the disturbance allowance and a doubling of several other benefits.
This decision follows India's Operation Sindoor in May 2025, which targeted military infrastructure in response to a terror attack. Pakistan's defense budget for the 2026-2027 fiscal year has also been significantly increased to PKR 3,000 billion, marking a 17.6% rise from the previous year. These financial decisions come as Pakistan grapples with high inflation and external debt challenges, potentially impacting its economic stability.
