Patmos Acquires Former Kansas City Star Building for AI Campus Development
Patmos Hosting has purchased the former Kansas City Star building to develop an AI campus and tech hub in Kansas City, Missouri. The company received a $100 million clean energy loan from PACE Loan Group to fund energy efficiency improvements, including HVAC and plumbing upgrades, for its 35 MW, $1 billion data center project.
The four-story, 421,000 sq. ft. building will house data center operations and co-working spaces, with plans for commercial office space and an event venue. Patmos aims to create smaller colocation spaces for mid-market customers, differentiating itself from larger data center providers. Construction began in late 2024, and the project is expected to be completed later this year.
