Paus Launches Battery Electric PScale 8-TE Scaler for Underground Operations
The new PScale 8-TE scaler by Hermann Paus Maschinenfabrik features an 80-kWh lithium-ion battery, offering operational flexibility and reduced maintenance costs. This development is significant for the mining industry, aiming to enhance productivity while minimizing environmental impact.

Hermann Paus Maschinenfabrik has introduced the PScale 8-TE, a battery-electric scaler designed for underground applications. It employs an 800-V system and an integrated cable drum for autonomous scaling, with the capability to charge while in operation.
The 80-kWh lithium-ion battery pack supports nickel-manganese-cobalt chemistry and is engineered for a minimum of 3,000 charging cycles under ambient temperatures ranging from -20°C to 50°C. Operational flexibility is enhanced through a 100-m cable drum and a quick-charging system that can reach 90% capacity in 45 minutes. Cost reductions are achieved through fewer mechanical components and improved diagnostic capabilities, leading to decreased maintenance time and increased productivity, which could positively impact operational efficiency in the mining sector.
