The coalition 'Publiez ce que vous payez' (Pcqvp) Sénégal has launched a project titled 'Critical minerals and energy transition in Senegal,' supported by the African Climate Foundation. This initiative aims to analyze the potential and challenges associated with critical minerals such as lithium, cobalt, nickel, copper, manganese, and rare earths.

The project seeks to document issues, inform key stakeholders, and influence policies for sustainable exploitation. In 2024, there are significant demands for mining permits, indicating a growing interest in these essential resources. The study aims to provide a clear mapping of these minerals and assess their economic viability.
