Penguin International Launches Pelican Peace, a Full-Hybrid Crewboat for Oil and Gas
Penguin International unveiled the Pelican Peace, a 42-meter hybrid crewboat, at APM 2026 in Singapore. The vessel features a true parallel hybrid architecture with a 232 kWh battery storage system, enabling efficient operation modes including full-electric sailing and generator-off capabilities. Developed with several partners, Pelican Peace aims to enhance operational efficiency and reduce emissions in the oil and gas sector.

Penguin International launched the Pelican Peace, a 42-meter multirole crewboat, at APM 2026 in Singapore. The vessel utilizes a Flex-42MX Hybrid design with a true parallel hybrid architecture, allowing automatic switching between operation modes.
It incorporates a 232 kWh battery energy storage system, enabling generator-off operations during low-load conditions, and delivering full-electric sailing at 6-8 knots. The development involved Reintjes Group, Danfoss Drives, Noris Automation, Chengrui Power Technology, and Razor Blunt Labs. Pelican Peace aims to reduce fuel consumption and emissions while enhancing operational efficiency.
