Performance 8 Energy Plans €310 Million Battery Storage Parks in France
Performance 8 Energy is set to invest €310 million in two battery storage parks in France by 2030, enhancing grid stability. This initiative is crucial for managing the increasing intermittency of renewable energy sources like solar and wind.

Performance 8 Energy is planning to establish two battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Ormes and Descartes, with a total investment of €310 million. The facilities will have a combined storage capacity of 880 MWh, with 330 MWh at Ormes and 550 MWh at Descartes, aimed at balancing electricity demand peaks.
Founded in 2024, the company focuses on electricity storage solutions, leveraging a 'zero concrete' installation method to minimize soil disruption. The units will be connected to the RTE grid, which is facing challenges due to the growing share of renewable energy. Performance 8 has raised €1 million towards its projects and aims for operational status by early 2030, pending construction permits and agreements with RTE.
