Peru Initiates Anti-Dumping Investigation on Chinese Tires Amid Rising Market Share
Peru's INDECOPI has launched an anti-dumping investigation into Chinese automotive tires following a complaint by Goodyear del Perú S.A. The investigation, covering both diagonal and radial tires, addresses allegations of dumping with a preliminary margin of 21.8%. The market share of Chinese tires in Peru increased from 81.4% to 83.5% between January 2022 and December 2025, coinciding with a decline in local production and sales. The investigation may impact trade dynamics in South America and pose challenges for Chinese tire manufacturers.

Peru's National Institute for the Defense of Competition (INDECOPI) has initiated an anti-dumping investigation into Chinese automotive tires, prompted by Goodyear del Perú S.A.'s complaint. The inquiry, which spans 2025, alleges that imported Chinese tires are sold at a 21.8% dumping margin, 48% cheaper than local products.
Between January 2022 and December 2025, Chinese tire market share in Peru rose from 81.4% to 83.5%, while local production decreased by 46.4%. The launch of Chancay Port in November 2024 reduced shipping time from China, intensifying competition. This investigation may influence trade policies in neighboring South American countries, potentially increasing barriers for Chinese exports and prompting strategic shifts among manufacturers.
