In January 2026, Peru's mining output saw growth with zinc increasing by 14.7%, silver by 4.5%, and copper production reaching 226,256 metric tons. The regions of Cajamarca, La Libertad, and Arequipa together contributed 74.3% of the national gold production, while Ancash led in copper output at 17.3%.
Concurrently, a state of emergency has been extended in 179 districts effective April 6, 2026, due to heavy rainfall, allowing for continued risk reduction and rehabilitation efforts.
