Peter Hanke Opens AI Factory Austria's Coworking Hub in Vienna
The AI Factory Austria, launched in 2022, aims to enhance access to European high-performance computing for Austrian companies and research. The new coworking hub in Vienna, opened by Innovationsminister Peter Hanke, serves as a central location for collaboration in AI applications. The initiative supports Austria's digital sovereignty with a budget of €1.7 billion for applied research. Access to supercomputing resources will initially be through the Leonardo supercomputer in Bologna, Italy, until a local supercomputer is operational by 2027.

The AI Factory Austria, opened by Innovationsminister Peter Hanke, provides structured access to European high-performance computing (HPC) for Austrian businesses and research. The coworking hub in Vienna facilitates collaboration on AI applications, with a focus on training and networking among companies, research institutions, and public administration.
Until the local supercomputer is expected to be operational in 2027, access will be through the Leonardo supercomputer in Bologna, Italy. Hanke emphasized the initiative's role in strengthening digital sovereignty and its integration into Austria's industrial strategy.
