DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTUREDEFENSE

Petersburg City Council approved the rezoning of 176 acres near the Ramblewood neighborhood to Light Industrial to facilitate a data center development by the Warrenton Group. The vote occurred on February 17 and included properties at 2088 Defense Road, 1918 Townes Road, and 1926 Bogese Drive.

Despite opposition from residents concerned about the negative impact on their neighborhood, the council expects increased tax revenue from the data center. A buffer zone was also created, raising further concerns among neighbors about potential future developments. Some residents voiced support for the project.
