Petrovietnam Expands Energy Collaboration with Canada in LNG, Nuclear, and CCS
Petrovietnam is pursuing enhanced partnerships with Canada focusing on LNG, nuclear power, and carbon capture. This collaboration is crucial for Vietnam's energy transition and securing a stable energy future.

Petrovietnam aims to enhance cooperation with Canada in LNG, nuclear power, and carbon capture and storage. During a meeting in Hanoi, Petrovietnam CEO Le Manh Cuong discussed opportunities for collaboration with Canadian Ambassador Jim Nickel.
Canada is positioned to become a stable LNG supplier to Vietnam, beginning exports to Asian markets in 2025 and offering to assist in developing LNG infrastructure. Additionally, Canada plans to support Vietnam's nuclear power initiatives by sharing expertise and connecting Petrovietnam with relevant Canadian entities.
The ambassador noted CCS as a key area for cooperation, emphasizing Canada's commitment to sharing technology and training for carbon reduction efforts. Cuong highlighted Petrovietnam's role in the Ninh Thuan 2 nuclear power project and its ongoing investments in renewable energy sectors. Both parties recognized the importance of diversifying energy sources in response to global economic uncertainties.
