Pewaukee Proposes 70% Water Rate Increase Under Review by Wisconsin Commission
The Village of Pewaukee is proposing a 70% increase in part of its water rate, pending review by the Wisconsin Public Service Commission. If approved, this would raise water utility revenue by about $1.04 million, implemented in two phases.
The increase primarily affects the water usage portion of the bill, with an estimated monthly rise of $20 to $25 for many households. Village officials attribute the increase to the rising costs of water supply and treatment, linked to new state regulations regarding contaminants.
The village plans to invest $25 million to $30 million over five years for system upgrades. Water is sourced from groundwater wells, with future connections to Great Lakes water being considered.
