Pflugerville Declares Local Disaster Amid Pipeline Failure Affecting $845M Water Projects
Pflugerville has declared a local disaster following a pipeline failure that threatens water supply to Lake Pflugerville, prompting emergency water restrictions. The city is in the midst of $845 million in water and wastewater infrastructure improvements, including a new $280.9 million wastewater treatment facility. The pipeline issue has accelerated plans for water system stabilization and expansion, with officials seeking emergency funding and technical assistance.

Pflugerville declared a local disaster on March 4 due to a pipeline failure impacting water flow into Lake Pflugerville, its primary drinking water source. Crews are working on a temporary line to restore water flow by March 10, while the city has activated Stage 3 water restrictions.
Pflugerville is currently executing $845 million in water and wastewater projects, including a $280.9 million wastewater treatment facility. With population growth from 46,000 in 2008 to nearly 80,000 now, projections estimate over 100,000 residents in the next decade. Expansion plans must also comply with Texas regulations on wastewater flow management.
