PGCIL Issues ₹1-Crore Tender for Battery Storage at Meghalaya Substations
Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has issued a tender worth ₹1.007 crore for Battery Energy Storage Systems at two substations in Meghalaya. This initiative aims to enhance grid stability and support renewable energy integration in the Northeast region.

PGCIL has invited bids for installing Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) at the Badarpur and Khlerihat substations, with each unit designed for 100 kW or 100 kWh capacity. The tender, valued at approximately ₹1.007 crore, is part of PGCIL's strategy to modernize power infrastructure and improve transmission reliability in Northeast India.
Bids can be submitted online until June 27, 2026, following a digital bidding process initiated on April 27, 2026. The project is expected to enhance load management and operational reliability amid increasing renewable energy integration. Successful deployment may serve as a model for future BESS projects across sensitive substations in the region, reinforcing the push for smarter energy management solutions.
