Pierce Aerospace to Deploy Remote ID Network for NASA in Bay Area
Pierce Aerospace has been awarded a contract to establish a Remote ID sensor network for NASA across Silicon Valley and the Bay Area. This initiative supports critical airspace safety research and aims to facilitate the integration of drones and air taxis into the National Airspace System.

Pierce Aerospace will implement a Remote ID network for NASA, deploying YR1 and YR2S sensors throughout Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area. The project, part of a multi-year initiative under the Metis Technology Solutions' NASA ARTS contract, aims to enhance air traffic management and support the safe integration of advanced aviation technologies.
This marks Pierce Aerospace's third contract under the SBIR Phase III program, which allows for expedited delivery of innovative solutions. The network will deliver crucial telemetry data for the detection and tracking of uncrewed aircraft, aiding various NASA projects including Air Traffic Management and Safety, Advanced Air Mobility Pathfinder, and Smart Mobility operations. The deployment is expected to significantly improve airspace awareness and operational insights, impacting future aviation infrastructure.
