Pikeville Considers Data Center Development with MD Squared Power
Pikeville has signed a memorandum of understanding with MD Squared Power to explore a data center project at Kentucky Enterprise Industrial Park. The initiative could lead to over 190 construction jobs and 40 permanent positions, contributing significantly to local economic growth.

The City of Pikeville signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with MD Squared Power LLC on April 20 to explore the possibility of a data center at Kentucky Enterprise Industrial Park. This MOU initiates a 120-day negotiation period but does not transfer land or commit the city to any terms.
If realized, the project may involve over $250 million in capital investment, creating 190 construction jobs and 40 permanent positions with above-median wages. Final approval would be required from the Pikeville City Commission. The city is also conducting an independent review to inform decision-making and address community concerns regarding utility costs and infrastructure.
