Pilot Energy Partners with SN Energy for Hybrid Solar and Battery Project in Western Australia
Pilot Energy has entered a binding agreement with SN Energy to develop a hybrid solar and battery storage project at the Three Springs site in Western Australia. The project aims to support a proposed 50-megawatt data centre, establishing the site as a clean energy hub.
SN Energy will fund land acquisition previously designated for a state-approved solar project, providing Pilot with $10.75 million for this and related costs. The hybrid project addresses rising demand for green energy solutions, particularly for data centres, which currently consume 2-3% of global electricity.
The co-location of solar generation and battery storage allows for energy dispatch during peak demand and outages. The deal is subject to standard conditions and a definitive joint development agreement is anticipated by mid-February. Pilot has also secured a $500,000 short-term loan to support progress.
