PJM Lowers 2027 Peak Power Demand Forecast to 160 GW Amid AI Growth Adjustments

PJM, the largest U.S. grid operator, has revised its peak power demand forecast for summer 2027 to approximately 160 GW, down from 164 GW. Despite this reduction, PJM anticipates significant growth driven by data centers, projecting a 17% increase by 2030 compared to current estimates. Additionally, PJM expects to exceed its historical peak demand record of around 165 GW, set in 2006, by summer 2028.
