Planning Application Submitted for Two Wind Turbines at Sullom Voe Terminal
A planning application has been submitted for two wind turbines at Sullom Voe Terminal, each standing 149.9 meters tall and generating 4.8 MW. This initiative is part of the terminal's transition from a gas-fired power station to renewable energy, with construction anticipated to take 12 to 18 months. EnQuest, the terminal operator, is also exploring additional renewable projects, including e-fuel production and carbon capture, while the Neshion Energy Park project proposes eight more turbines nearby.

A planning application has been submitted for two wind turbines at Sullom Voe Terminal, each with a height of 149.9 meters and an output of 4.8 MW. The terminal is transitioning from its 100 MW gas-fired power station to renewables, with construction expected to take 12 to 18 months.
The turbines will help reduce reliance on non-renewable energy and are planned to operate for approximately 25 years. EnQuest, the terminal operator, previously considered adding up to seven turbines and is also pursuing e-fuel production and carbon capture.
Additionally, the Neshion Energy Park project proposes eight turbines to the east of SVT. Future developments include a substation hub by SSEN and a hydrogen/ammonia plant proposed by Statkraft.
