PLD Space Advances Miura 5 Rocket Progress for 2026 Launch from French Guiana

SPACE ECONOMY

PLD Space is progressing towards the inaugural flight of its Miura 5 rocket, scheduled for 2026 from the Guiana Space Centre in Kourou, French Guiana. The two-stage rocket, designed for partial reusability, can carry up to 540 kg to low Earth orbit.

Recent milestones include the manufacturing of two qualification models (QM1 and QM2) produced in record time. Successful hot-fire tests of the T5C engines have been completed, and the company is finalizing the design for the flight unit version.

Ground support equipment is being manufactured in Spain and will undergo testing soon, while civil works at the launch complex in Kourou are progressing. The Miura 5 aims for a cadence of up to 30 missions annually, with a capacity to transport 1,080 kg to equatorial orbit at 500 km altitude.
