Candace Johnson has joined the board of PLD Space, marking a pivotal moment for the company as it aims to enhance its international presence in the aerospace sector. The appointment supports PLD Space's ongoing efforts, including a €180 million investment led by Mitsubishi and a €30 million loan from the European Investment Bank.
Johnson's extensive background includes founding SES, a leading satellite network operator, and involvement in the development of Iridium, a reliable satellite communication system. Her addition as the first female board member aligns with PLD's objectives to compete with major players such as SpaceX and Blue Origin. The forthcoming Miura 5 launch will be crucial for PLD Space's ambitions in the logistics sector.
