Plia has introduced the Mesh Home Battery, a plug-and-play backup power system that connects to standard outlets and captures solar energy for later use, priced at $1,299. This innovative solution, developed by former Tesla engineer Cole Ashman, offers a cost-effective alternative to traditional battery systems, which can exceed $40,000.
The company secured $4 million in funding to increase manufacturing and has begun accepting reservations for delivery this year with a $99 deposit. The system allows users to power essential appliances during outages for up to 32 hours, expandable to 64 hours with an additional module.
It simplifies installation with no tools or rewiring required, and future capabilities may include sending power back to the grid. Plia aims to make energy storage accessible for renters and homeowners, reducing reliance on traditional energy sources.
