PLN Accelerates Renewable Energy Development in Bali
PT PLN is advancing Bali's energy independence by enhancing renewable energy capacity and infrastructure per the 2025-2034 RUPTL. The initiative addresses an 8.02% rise in electricity demand due to economic and tourism growth, aiming for a sustainable power supply.

PT PLN is implementing the 2025-2034 Electricity Supply Business Plan to enhance Bali's energy independence by developing renewable energy power plants and upgrading electrical infrastructure. The electricity demand in Bali has surged by 8.02%, requiring PLN to ensure a reliable and sustainable power supply for approximately 1.96 million customers, with peak demand around 1,300 MW.
PLN plans to increase generation capacity by 2.74 GW, including 886.8 MW from renewable sources. This expansion involves constructing 885 kilometers of transmission lines and increasing substation capacity by 3,320 MVA.
Challenges in execution include limited construction space and regulatory hurdles, necessitating stakeholder collaboration for successful energy transition. Achieving Bali's 2045 Net Zero Emissions target will require comprehensive planning and investment.
