Plug Power Completes 100 MW Electrolyzer Installation at Galp's Sines Refinery in Portugal

ELECTROLYZERHYDROGEN

Plug Power Inc. has completed the installation of 100 MW of PEM GenEco electrolyzers at Galp's Sines Refinery in Portugal, marking a significant milestone in renewable hydrogen projects in Europe. The project commenced in October 2025 with the delivery of the first 10 MW module.

All ten electrolyzer arrays are now installed, with commissioning expected to begin in the coming months. Once operational, the system is projected to produce up to 15,000 tons of renewable hydrogen annually, replacing approximately 20% of the refinery's grey hydrogen use and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 110,000 tons per year. This initiative is part of Plug Power's broader expansion in Europe, aligning with the industrial sector's push for low-carbon fuels.
