Plus Power's Cross Town Energy Storage facility in Gorham, Maine, is now operational, featuring a capacity of 175 MW and 350 MWh, making it the largest utility-scale battery storage project on the ISO New England grid. The facility will store surplus energy during low demand and discharge during peak times, enhancing grid reliability and reducing reliance on fossil fuels, especially during extreme weather.

This project supports Maine's target of 400 MW of battery storage by 2030 and aims for 90% of electricity sales to come from renewable sources by 2030. The facility, located near Central Maine Power's congested Moshers substation, will also facilitate the delivery of wind power from Northern Maine to Southern Maine and Boston. Cross Town uses 156 Sungrow PowerTitan battery units and is Plus Power's second project in the region, following the Cranberry Point Energy Storage facility in Massachusetts.
