Poland Advances Satellite Capabilities with MikroSAR Launch Delay
Poland's Ministry of National Defence has announced a delay in the launch of the MikroSAR satellite constellation from Vandenberg Space Force Base, now scheduled for approximately 13:02 local time on March 30. This mission marks a significant step in enhancing Poland's independent military reconnaissance capabilities, allowing for improved situational awareness and national security.

The launch of the MikroSAR satellite, part of the POLSARIS constellation, has been rescheduled to 13:02 local time on March 30 from Vandenberg Space Force Base, California. This mission is pivotal for Poland's defense strategy, as it aims to develop autonomous satellite reconnaissance capabilities independent of weather conditions and time of day.
A contract signed on May 14, 2025, valued at approximately 860 million PLN, includes the acquisition of three satellites, with an option for three additional units. The satellites will operate in a heliosynchronous orbit, enabling effective monitoring of terrain changes and supporting crisis management, agriculture, and forestry initiatives. The first MikroSAR satellite launched in late 2025 has already provided images of Warsaw and Gdańsk.
