Polymer Matters, in collaboration with Lindner Washtech and EREMA, achieved Advanced Novel Technology status, allowing the use of recycled HDPE (rHDPE) in food contact packaging in Europe. The facility, opened in June 2024, produces food-grade rHDPE from post-consumer recyclate sourced from Ireland and Great Britain.
The process involves quality control, washing, extrusion, and water treatment, ensuring compliance with food safety standards. With a production capacity of 2.5 tons per hour, Polymer Matters aims to ramp up production and secure full EFSA approval to meet market needs and promote circular economy practices.
