Port Huron Approves $400K Roof Replacement at Wastewater Treatment Plant
Port Huron's city council has authorized $404,600 for a roof replacement at the wastewater treatment facility, addressing significant leaks. The project is essential for maintaining infrastructure serving 55,000 customers and will involve multiple local townships sharing costs.

Port Huron will spend $404,600 on a new roof for its wastewater treatment plant, awarded to Tri-Star Roofing & Sheet Metal, LLC. The plant serves approximately 55,000 customers and processes nine million gallons of wastewater daily.
The existing roof, built in 1951, has deteriorated, causing leaks over critical infrastructure. Port Huron Township will pay $54,014, Kimball Township will contribute $21,889, and Fort Gratiot Township will cover $55,956.
The city will assume the majority cost at $272,741, reflecting its 67.41% usage rate. This upgrade is crucial for reliable service and compliance with sanitary agreements.
