Porto Metrobus Launches Commercial Service After Trial Period
The Porto Metrobus commenced commercial operations on April 20, following a 51-day trial phase. The service aims to enhance urban mobility and reduce travel times, with an estimated potential ridership of 7.4 million by 2027.

The Porto Metrobus started commercial operations on April 20, transitioning from a trial phase that began on February 28. Serving between Casa da Música and Praça do Império, it records an average of 6,000 trips daily.
The bus operates on hydrogen, utilizing segregated lanes on Avenida da Boavista and Avenida Marechal Gomes da Costa. The service aims to provide competitive travel times compared to individual transport, as highlighted by Secretary of State for Mobility, Cristina Pinto Dias.
Construction costs for the project reached approximately €76 million, with vehicles and energy systems costing €29.5 million. Future expansion to Anémona is planned, with expected stops under construction. The satisfaction rate among users stands at 8.7 out of 10 based on over 3,000 interviews.
