POSCO Future M Signs MOU with Sila Nanotechnologies for Advanced Battery Materials Development
POSCO Future M Co. has signed a memorandum of understanding with Sila Nanotechnologies Inc. to co-develop advanced battery materials, focusing on silicon-based anode technology. The partnership aims to enhance the energy storage capacity of batteries, potentially increasing the driving range of electric vehicles. The collaboration will also address challenges related to silicon anodes and improve their cost competitiveness.

POSCO Future M Co., a unit of South Korea's POSCO Holdings Inc., has signed an MOU with U.S.-based Sila Nanotechnologies to develop advanced battery materials. The agreement, made at InterBattery 2026, will leverage POSCO Future M's expertise in cathode and anode materials with Sila's silicon anode technology, which can store up to 10 times more energy than conventional graphite anodes.
The partnership will also focus on overcoming challenges related to silicon anodes and improving their cost competitiveness. Additionally, POSCO Future M plans to expand its offerings to include various battery types, alongside its collaboration with Sila.
