PPL and Andritz Hydro Agreement to Upgrade Hydropower Infrastructure in PNG
PNG Power Limited has partnered with PT Andritz Hydro to modernize hydropower infrastructure, focusing on the Ramu One facility. This initiative aims to enhance low-carbon electricity supply and reduce reliance on diesel generation.

PNG Power Limited and PT Andritz Hydro have entered into a contract to upgrade the Ramu One hydropower station, a 77 megawatt facility crucial for the Ramu grid, which includes Lae and Madang. This project aims to rehabilitate outdated infrastructure, enhance efficiency, and contribute to the Sustainable Energy Sector Development Programme.
By modernizing electromechanical components and reducing dependence on expensive diesel power, the initiative is expected to stabilize electricity provision across Papua New Guinea's main grids. The collaboration highlights the ongoing need for sustainable energy solutions in the region.
