In a significant move to bolster India’s maritime infrastructure and promote sustainable development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation for a series of projects worth over ₹34,200 crore at the "Samudra se Samriddhi" event in Bhavnagar, Gujarat. Among the key highlights was the inauguration of the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal at Indira Dock, designed to establish Mumbai as a global cruise hub, thereby enhancing tourism and economic growth.

The Prime Minister also laid the groundwork for several initiatives in the maritime sector, with investments totaling ₹7,870 crore. These include a new container terminal at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in Kolkata, cargo handling facilities at Paradip Port, and the Tuna Tekra multi-cargo terminal in Gujarat. Modern firefighting systems and improved road connectivity at Kamarajar Port in Ennore, coastal protection works at Chennai Port, and a multi-purpose cargo berth at Deendayal Port in Kandla further underscore the government's commitment to enhancing maritime capabilities.

In addition to maritime projects, Modi announced a substantial investment of ₹26,354 crore in various sectors across Gujarat, including energy, healthcare, and urban transport. Key projects include the HPLNG regasification terminal at Chhara Port, an acrylics and oxo-alcohol project at the Gujarat IOC refinery, and several renewable energy initiatives, such as the PM KUSUM solar feeder for farmers and the complete solarisation of Dhordo village.

Healthcare infrastructure is also set to receive a boost, with expansions planned at Sir T General Hospital in Bhavnagar and Guru Govind Singh Government Hospital in Jamnagar, along with the four-laning of 70 kilometers of national highways to facilitate smoother transport.

Modi’s day included an aerial survey of the Dholera Special Investment Region, envisioned as a greenfield industrial city focused on sustainable development and global investment. He also reviewed progress at the National Maritime Heritage Complex in Lothal, a project dedicated to celebrating India’s rich maritime history.

The Prime Minister's initiatives reflect a holistic approach to development that seeks to harmonize maritime progress with renewable energy, healthcare improvements, and urban infrastructure, ultimately reinforcing Gujarat's economy while advancing national growth.
