Prince William County Defends PW Digital Gateway Project Amid $1.6 Million Litigation Costs
Prince William County is continuing to defend the PW Digital Gateway data center project in court, with litigation costs exceeding $1.6 million. A motion for an additional $400,000 in funding for the county's legal challenges failed in a 4-4 tie, maintaining the board's prior approval.
Gainesville Supervisor George Stewart initiated the motion, citing errors in the previous vote. Supporters of the data center industry, including supervisors Victor Angry, Andrea Bailey, Kenny Boddye, and Margaret Franklin, opposed the motion.
The total spent on the Digital Gateway litigation, as of December 18, 2025, is $1,663,478.72. The Board of County Supervisors meeting revealed internal divisions, with Angry elected vice chair. Chair Deshundra Jefferson nominated Kenny Boddye for vice chair but faced dissent from her fellow Democrats. The board's dynamics were described as needing improvement in communication and professionalism.
