Progress on 715 MW Hydropower Projects Under PEDO in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Seven hydropower projects totaling 715 MW are underway in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with a focus on renewable energy development. This initiative aims to enhance local energy production and economic growth through cost-effective power generation.

The Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO) is advancing seven hydropower projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including the 300 MW Balakot and 157 MW Madin projects. Additionally, a 40-kilometer 132/220 KV transmission line is being established from Mittaltan to Madin.
Currently, completed projects under PEDO generate 224 MW of electricity, yielding significant annual revenue. The provincial government emphasizes the importance of timely project completion to maximize resource utilization and support the industrial sector. Ongoing solar energy initiatives aim to convert public facilities to renewable sources and provide solar systems to 130,000 low-income families, which could significantly impact local energy access.
