Proposed 28-Acre Solar Farm in Mayfield Unrelated to Data Centers
Solar Star Mayfield 1 LLC, a subsidiary of TotalEnergies, plans to develop a 28-acre solar farm in Mayfield. Mayor Al Chelik clarified that this project is not linked to any data center developments, aiming to address community concerns.

Solar Star Mayfield 1 LLC intends to construct a 28-acre solar farm in Mayfield, with plans submitted for the installation of ground-mounted photovoltaic arrays. A public hearing is scheduled for June 10, where the borough council will discuss the project, which has raised community concerns about its potential association with data centers.
Mayor Chelik confirmed that no data centers are planned in Mayfield and emphasized that the solar farm meets local zoning requirements for heavy commercial areas. The project will not require public water or sewer services and is expected to generate minimal maintenance traffic.
Solar Star is leasing the land from Mayfield Realty Group, which purchased it in 2019 for $600,000. Local ordinances mandate public hearings if a solar application is deemed complete, allowing community input before a decision is made within 45 days post-hearing. Chelik noted that the solar farm could provide cheaper energy to the grid and help meet future energy demands.
