Proposed Energy Storage System in Vale of Glamorgan
A new energy storage system, termed 'Battery Box', is proposed in Wenvoe, aimed at enhancing grid flexibility and reducing carbon emissions. If approved, the installation could save an estimated 4,800 tonnes of carbon over its operational lifetime.

AMP Clean Energy has submitted a proposal for a 'Battery Box' energy storage system in Wenvoe, Vale of Glamorgan. This system will charge during periods of high renewable generation and export stored energy back to the grid during high demand, thus improving grid flexibility.
The site is strategically located near existing electrical infrastructure and is expected to save 160 tonnes of carbon annually. Each unit connects to local low-voltage networks instead of directly to renewable sources, making it suitable for urban and industrial areas. The project's approval could represent a significant shift towards localized energy management.
