Prumo Logística Manages Açu Port Amid Dispute with OSX Over Lease and Debt Issues

Prumo Logística, controlled by EIG and Mubadala, manages Açu Port in Rio de Janeiro, which spans 130 km². The port is in dispute with OSX, Eike Batista's shipbuilding company, which occupies about 2.5% of the area without paying rent.

OSX entered judicial recovery in early 2024 with debts of R$ 7.9 billion, with Açu Port as a major creditor. The CEO of Açu Port, Eugenio Figueiredo, stated that the area occupied by OSX is not being utilized effectively.

OSX claims that Prumo Logística is attempting to undermine its recovery process. OSX owes around R$ 2.5 billion to the port manager, while its total debt reaches R$ 9 billion. The port aims to develop new terminals for grain export, data centers, and green hydrogen plants, contingent on resolving the dispute with OSX. Currently, there are no firm agreements for data centers, but energy connection requests have been made.
