Prysmian Completes Cable Installation for RWE's Sofia Offshore Wind Farm
Prysmian Group has finalized its cable installation contract for RWE's 1.4GW Sofia offshore wind farm, valued over €200m. This milestone enhances the UK's renewable energy infrastructure, expected to power 1.2 million homes.

Prysmian Group has completed the cable installation for RWE's 1.4GW Sofia offshore wind farm, with a contract worth over €200m. The project, located in the North Sea, includes a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) cable system connecting the offshore converter station to the onshore converter station in Teesside.
Over 450km of cables were laid using the cable-laying vessel Leonardo Da Vinci. The wind farm features 100 turbines, each 252m tall, and is designed to meet the electricity demands of approximately 1.2 million UK homes. The development, originally approved in 2015 and acquired by RWE in 2017, continues construction with ongoing cooperation among various stakeholders.
