Pueblo Transit Secures $19 Million Grant for Zero Emissions Fleet Transition
Pueblo Transit has received a $19 million grant to transition to a zero emissions fleet, with $16 million from federal funds and $3.2 million from state matching. The plan involves adopting mostly hybrid buses within two years and transitioning to hydrogen fuel cell buses post-2030. A new transit facility will be built to support this initiative, aiming for a fleet of 26 renewable energy buses and complete zero emissions by 2050.

Pueblo Transit has obtained a $19 million grant to convert its fleet to zero emissions, comprising $16 million in federal funding and $3.2 million from state sources. The agency plans to implement mostly hybrid buses over the next two years, with a shift to hydrogen fuel cell buses targeted for after 2030.
Additionally, Pueblo Transit will relocate from its current downtown facility to accommodate the new fleet. The goal is to operate 26 buses on renewable energy and achieve full zero emissions by 2050. There are currently no plans to raise fares.
